Happy Chinese New Year of the Yellow/Earth Dog!

The flowers are bursting forth and the weather is warming up. Spring is the time of rebirth and new beginnings. So let those spring winds blow out what no longer serves you while thinking of what you are "growing". What goals do you wish to accomplish? Spring is the perfect time to detox as the energies are strongest in the liver and gallbladder. Give your face and skin a fresh new look with a cosmetic acupuncture treatment.
Spring is the Season of Wood
In Chinese medicine, the wood phase is associated with spring, wind, the color green, the liver and gallbladder, tendons, ligaments and nerves, the sense of sight, renewal, the act of “doing”, the courage to act when needed, driving forward, and accomplishing goals. Balanced emotions of the wood phase are gentleness and kindness, while imbalanced emotions are anger and frustration. “When your love contracts in anger, the atmosphere itself feels threatening. But when you’re expansive no matter what the weather, you’re in an open, windy field with friends.” – Rumi.
According to Chinese cosmology, Spring begins in early February with the month of tiger, while the Spring Equinox marks the height of the season (month of rabbit). The wood phase is thunderous, powerful, and creative. During this time, the energy is expanding upward and outward. This is the same energy that allows the seed to open while the ground is still somewhat frozen, sprout, and push up and out towards the air and light to grow and flourish. Our bodies are a direct reflection and correlation to the earth and her seasons. We experience this same thunderous, powerful energy rising upwards. This energy (or qi) within us can easily turn to toxic heat and anger. Drinking a tea daily of chrysanthemum flowers and goji berries can help keep the toxins clear.
Cosmetic and Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
Look younger.... Feel great!
Keep the toxins clear from your face with one of these rejuvenating sessions.
Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture: Mei Zen means "beautiful person". Cosmetic acupuncture is a great alternative to Botox or fillers to help reduce or eliminate the appearance of sags, bags, and fine lines and wrinkles. The program consists of 11 acupuncture treatments, an initial overall health assessment identifying imbalances that may be impacting your ability to age well and be the healthiest you can be, followed by a series of 10 sessions scheduled over a 5-week period. This treatment promotes the production of the collagen and elastin matrix, providing longer-lasting results. Cosmetic acupuncture addresses the internal and external causes of aging. Includes a gentle acupuncture treatment with; aromatherapy, cleanser, toner, and a light face massage with moisturizer for your skin type.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture: This is a painless, non-surgical method reducing the signs of the aging process. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is more than a cosmetic procedure, it is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. The skin and face are a reflection of the state of one's health. We use acupuncture to improve health while reducing the appearance of sags, bags, and wrinkles. This treatment can be booked as a single treatment (results improve when scheduled as a weekly series), and makes a great gift. Includes a gentle acupuncture treatment with; aromatherapy, cleanser, toner, and a light face massage with jade and moisturizer for your skin type.
Asian Facial Cupping Rejuvenation: This treatment uses small glass suction cups designed for the face with a light suction technique. These cups are used to rhythmically and gently vacuum tissues of the face, neck and upper chest that increases circulation and nutrients to the skin, increases lymphatic flow, and reduces inflammation. By increasing blood flow and circulation to the skin, it lifts, tones and plumps muscles, relaxes fine lines, moves toxins and stagnant blood out, and ushers in nutrient-enriched blood and fluid to detoxify your face; thereby repairing and nourishing your face. It reverses gravity’s effects on your face giving a youthful glow. This is a great treatment to add-on to any acupuncture session.
Zen-Aroma Acupressure: This relaxing facial treatment combines acupressure points and aromatherapy with tui-na massage to rejuvenate and detoxify the face and body. This treatment prevents wrinkles and premature aging by toning and tightening the face. This is a great treatment to add-on to your acupuncture session.
The classic texts regard the liver as the general in charge of making plans and strategies, ensuring the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. The gallbladder is regarded as the judge in the classics and responsible for executing the orders and plans of the general. When this function is impaired, the qi stagnates leading to a multitude of physical and emotional symptoms. Exercise, especially outdoors in nature, is the best remedy to get the qi/energy flowing smoothly and release the stagnation, freeing up the pent-up emotions of anger or frustration.

Chamomile, roman – instills patience, eases fixed expectations, promotes healthy self-assertion, and restrains brashness while helping to develop dependable courage
- 10 ml rollerball bottle: Apply to wrists, neck, legs, or acupuncture points as needed.
- 2ml blend: Add 1 drop to diffuser. Add to bath by combining 3 drops essential oil blend to one cup of Epsom or sea salt.
2oz spray: Spray room, clothes, pillows or wear as a perfume.
The wood phase is about healthy self-assertion. Many children are raised with negative associations of the characteristics of the wood phase, especially that of healthy self-assertions. One may experience self-assertion as being too edgy or harsh or go to great lengths to diffuse or avoid anger. Repressed or suppressed anger becomes toxic. Healthy anger relabeled is “a dynamic, unstoppable force for action”. This is the energy that allows us to overcome obstacles and accomplish our goals. When this energy is suppressed, repressed, or turned inward, it easily becomes a destructive weapon. Self-assertion becomes difficult for many people avoiding being labeled as “bossy”, aggressive, arrogant, or domineering. When we repress this energy we become tight, tense, and frustrated. Asserting ourselves allows us to make plans and decisions, have the courage to act on those plans, and move towards our goals and visions, overcoming whatever is blocking our growth.
